And the winner is. . .

The 2010 Children's Book Awards were named this morning by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.

The Newbery Medal for most outstanding contribution to children's literature went to Rebecca Stead for When You Reach Me.

The Caldecott Medal for most distinguished American picture book for children was awarded to Jerry Pinkney for The Lion and the Mouse.

The Sibert Medal for the most distinguished informational book for children went to Tanya Lee Stone for Almost Astronauts: 13 Women Who Dared to Dream.

The Geisel Medal for the most distinguished beginning reader went to Geoffrey Hayes for Benny and Penny and the Big No No!
