March 2, 1836: Texas Independence Day

March 2, 2012 was a busy day in San Antonio. Across the city many students enjoyed Dr. Seuss celebrations and participated in Read Across America events. And it is possible that in the excitement of reading The Lorax and enjoying Green Eggs and Ham -- many forgot that March 2 is also Texas Independence Day.

But it isn't too late to read a little Texas history and remember the legends and lore of the Lone Star State.
