San Antonio's Poet Laureate

Dr. Carmen Tafolla has been named the City of San Antonio's very first Poet Laureate.  Dr. Tafolla is best known to young readers as the author of books such as Fiesta Babies, What Can You Do with a Rebozo? and What Can You Do with a Paleta? 

But you may be wondering, what exactly is a Poet Laureate?  What will Dr. Tafolla do?  Think of her as the City's official poet.  She will promote poetry, share poetry, write poetry and encourage others to do these things as well.  Being San Antonio's Poet Laureate is certainly an honor.  Congratulations, Dr. Tafolla!
