President John Kennedy & the Peace Corps
On September 22, 1961 President John Kennedy signed the legislation that created the Peace Corps.
In the 51 years since it's inception, over 210,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 139 host countries, working on projects ranging from farming to water wells, information technology to environmental protection.
Today might be a good day to learn more about President Kennedy and the Peace Corps and to "ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country."
