Galileo was a scientist, a mathematician, an astronomer and a philosopher who was born in 1564.  He was a major player in the Scientific Revolution but being a forward-thinker doesn't always work out the way you might expect.

It was on April 12, 1633 that Galileo went on trial for supporting the idea that the Earth and the other planets revolved around the sun.  At the time, most people believed the Earth was the center of the universe!
