Lulu, a seven-year-old animal lover, goes out of her way to help animals in need. In Lulu and the Dog from the Sea, the second book in the series by Hilary McKay, Lulu tries to tame a stray dog while her family is on vacation. She fears that unless she helps the dog, he’ll be taken to the pound. Lulu is a great choice for younger readers who are ready for short chapter books.
