Celebrating Barbara Park

Today is a good day to read (or re-read) Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus.   Actually, it is a good day to read any of the twenty-eight books Barbara Park wrote about Junie B.  Ms Park, who died last Friday, will be remembered as a wonderful writer with a terrific sense of humor.  Long before she became well known for the kindergarten (and first grade) antics of Junie B., Ms. Park won the Texas Bluebonnet Award.  Her winning book was Skinnybones -- a story about baseball, bragging and a boy who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut!
