A River of Words

William Carlos Williams (1883-1963) was a Latino-American poet who was also a pediatrician.  He is known for his experimental poetic style -- a style that differed greatly from the standard and formalized poetic forms generally accepted at the time.

Jennifer Bryant has written a brief biography of William Carlos Williams entitled A River of Words. The book is illustrated by Melissa Sweet who has incorporated many of his poems into her artwork.

Reading about this innovative poet could be the perfect way to round out National Poetry Month!
