Recommended Reading: Geology

How can a rock be lively when it isn’t alive? In the book, A Rock is Livelybeautiful illustrations make gems, geodes, and more come to life!  There are lots of mysterious scientific and historical facts in the book that feels like a private journal, not a run-of-the-mill field guide.

In the same way, the book These Rocks Count invites children to join in the
fun as Ms. Tate’s class goes on a hike and the children soon realize rocks are far from boring.  The journey shows them how rocks impact our lives in ways we may not realize – such as table salt, toothpaste, and smart phones, too!

Recommended by Ruth, children's librarian at the Central Library
