But, you may be wondering -- why LEGOs at the library? The library is all about ideas and imagination. Construction play -- with toys like wooden blocks, LEGO bricks and even stacks of empty cardboard boxes -- gives children a chance to engage in pretend play, problem solving and divergent thinking. They can explore cause/effect, make plans and test their ideas, and -- when two of more children build together -- there are opportunities for collaboration and conversation. And besides -- construction play is FUN!
