Celebrating Jerry Pinkney

Award-winning author/illustrator Jerry Pinkney has just received two additional honors.  During the 2016 American Library Association's Midwinter meeting, Mr. Pinkney received both the Coretta Scott King-Virginia Hamilton Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal.

Both of these awards are given in honor of Mr. Pinkney's long and illustrious career which spans over 50 years and includes over 100 books.  Among his previous accolades are a Caldecott Medal in 2010 for The Lion and the Mouse as well as four Coretta Scott King Illustrator Awards for Goin' Someplace Special, Minty, Mirandy and Brother Wind and Half a Moon and One Whole Star.
