Judging by the number of awards it has won, Last Stop on Market Street is an outstanding work of children's literature!
Author Matt de la Peña was named the 2016 Newbery Medalist while illustrator Christian Robinson received both a Caldecott and a Coretta Scott King Honor citation.
Mr. de la Peña is only the second author of Latino heritage to win the Newbery and Last Stop on Market Street joins a very small group of picture books to have ever been cited as Newbery winners or honors.
