A little girl who has only a small square of dirt for a backyard imagines elves and fairies in a miniature world that magically comes to life. The story of Twig is reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland in its transformation of an ordinary child into a participant in fantastic adventures.
