What Can You Do With a Paleta? has just won the 2010 Tomas Rivera Mexican American Children's Book Award. This award, administered by the College of Education at Texas State University, honors literature that depicts the Mexican American experience. Written by San Antonio author Carmen Tafolla, the Rivera Award is the second honor the book has received. It is also the recipient of the 2010 Charlotte Zolotow Award, presented by the Cooperative Children's Book Center at the Univeristy of Wisconsin. The Zolotow Award is presented for the most outstanding text in an American picture book.
The San Antonio Public Library offers a hearty congratulations to Dr. Tafolla and invites children across the city to enjoy her award-winning book which is also available in a bilingual edition.
