Franklin Delano Roosevelt
August 10 is a good day to read about President Franklin Roosevelt, sometimes known as FDR. According to the SA Public Library Facebook page this date, in 1921, is when Roosevelt contracted polio -- a disease that left him with crippled legs but steely determination.
If you are looking for some serious information, you might like Russell Freedman's biography, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. If you are looking for something a a little lighter (and a little shorter) try A Boy Named FDR by Kathleen Krull.
You'll find both of these book in the juvenile biography section.
