As we conclude National Poetry Month and begin our observance of Asian American Month -- I have been thinking about Thannha Lai's beautifully poetic novel of a Vietnamese family's journey from their war-torn country to the American South to begin a new life. |
Written as a series of free-verse poems, Inside Out and Back Again won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature in 2011 and was named a Newbery Honor Book in 2012.
The book is also available as an on audio CD and as an Ebook.
