Congratulations, Mr. President

The significance of Tuesday's inauguration brings to mind many books designed to illuminate the presidency for young readers. Among these books is Judith St. George's So You Want to be President? Illustrator David Small received the 2001 Caldecott Medal for the book's artwork, which borrows its style from the political cartoons you might see on the editorial page of our local newspaper.

The book is fun to read -- and fun to look at. You'll find it in the Juvenile Award section of your local branch library.

And, if you find your interest in the presidency has been peaked -- Ms. St. George has also written picture book biographies of George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt. You'll find these books in Juvenile Biography section.
