On Monday, January 26, the 2009 Caldecott Medal Winner was announced. Congratualtions to Beth Krommes for her illustrations in The House in the Night.The book, written by Susan Marie Swanson, explores the way welcoming lights turn a house into a home -- especially at night.
The Caldecott Committee also named three honor books: A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever, written and illustrated by Marla Frazee; How I Learned Geography, written and illustrated by Uri Shulevitz; and A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams, written by Jen Bryant with illustrations by Melissa Sweet.
