Maurice Sendak is celebrating his seventy-first birthday today. Sendak is a prolific author and illustrator of children's books who is best known for his Caldecott winner Where the Wild Things Are. Max, along with his gang of wild and wooly monsters, has been entertaining children since the book's publication in 1963.If you don't have plans for today -- you might enjoy having a bit of a "wild rumpus" in Mr. Sendak's honor.
