Saturday, January 26 is the birthday of Jules Feiffer -- author and illustrator of one of my very favorite picture books -- Bark, George. I love this clever story of a little dog and his mother who take a pretty peculiar trip to to the vet.
Mr. Feiffer is probably best known to young readers as the illustrator of the enduring fantasy The Phantom Tollbooth. Published over fifty years ago, the story of Milo and his bizarre journey to escape boredom, continues to be a touchstone in the world of children's literature.
