Tuesday, Feb. 26 is the 184th birthday of Levi Strauss -- the man who brought us blue jeans!
Mr. Strauss was a German-American businessman who sold dry goods such as clothing, bedding and fabric for tents during the California Gold Rush. In 1873, Jacob Davis, a tailor, partnered with Strauss to patent the use of copper rivets to strengthen the pockets of denim pants favored by the miners. Levi Strauss & Co have been manufacturing blue jeans ever since!
