Eleanor, Quiet No More

Eleanor Roosevelt is America's most admired First Lady.  At a time when a presidential wife was expected to be quietly supportive, she spoke out -- although speaking out was not easy for her -- at least at first.

Doreen Rappaport and Gary Kelley provide a vivid portrait of her life in their picture book biography Eleanor, Quiet No More. Quotations from Eleanor's own writings are highlighted throughout the text bringing her cares, causes and concerns into focus for readers young and old.

The book closes on an inspiring and timely note: "We have to continue fighting for freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom from want."
