Author Linda Sue Park has been writing poems and stories since she was four years old! However, it wasn't until she was nine that she had her first poem published. Ms. Park has gone on to write many books for children, almost all of which are informed by her Korean heritage.
A Single Shard is the story of Tree-ear, an orphaned boy in medieval Korea who longs to become a potter. In 2002, Ms. Park won the Newbery Medal for this powerful story of creativity and perseverance.
