Three Latino Illustrators

The SAPL Kids book shelf this month features the work of three outstanding Latino illustrators:
Duncan Tonatiuh, Rafael Lopez and John Parra.

Duncan's book Pancho Rabbit and the Coyote won the 2014 Tomás Rivera Award and received an honor citation from the Pura Belpré Committee for both the text and the illustrations.

Rafael's illustrations for Book Fiesta! received the 2010 Pura Belpré Award. Tito Puento was a Belpré Honor Book in 2014.

John is also a Pura Belpré Honor illustrator.  He won this distinction in 2010 for the book Gracias/Thanks.  John is also the recipient of the 2012 Christopher Award.

Enjoying the work of Latino artists is an enjoyable way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.  Please visit our Guide to Latino Illustrators and our guides to the Pura Belpre Award and the Tomás Rivera Award for links to many more outstanding Latino authors and illustrators.
