Basketball Belles

In San Antonio we are ALL about the Spurs  and the Stars -- but if you are interested in the history of the game -- Basketball Belles is the book to read!

Sue Macy has written a play-by-play account of the 1896 game between the women of Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley. The teams wore bloomers and played in front of an all-female crowd of over five hundred. Men were not allowed to attend as it was considered improper for women to perspire in front of men!

Needless to say, basketball has changed a lot since 1896 and those changes makes this book even more interesting!
