Beloved and prolific children's author Beverly Cleary turns 100 on April 12. As the creator of such memorable characters as Ramona Quimby and her sister Beezus, Henry Huggins and his dog Ribsy and motorcycle-riding Ralph S. Mouse, Ms. Cleary has sold more than 75 million books in her long and illustrious career.
When asked to comment on reaching her 100th birthday, Ms. Cleary remarked, "I didn't do it on purpose." But thankfully, she did write many wonderful books -- on purpose! Here are three you are sure to enjoy:
