Go Bananas!

Monday, February 23 is National Banana Bread Day. Banana bread is really more like cake than bread, and was probably invented to avoid wasting overripe bananas because they used to be relatively expensive here in America. If you would like to try your hand at baking this sweet treat, the Library has some great cookbooks that can help you, like Chopchop: The Kids' Guide to Cooking Real Food With Your Family.

But, if you don't care for baking, you can always celebrate the day with books with fun banana facts or maybe a silly story. Or, you can just celebrate the day by getting a little crazy and going bananas – try the "Go Bananas" song on this album by The Learning Station for starters.
